Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, is a state-of-the-art multi-purpose facility that serves as the home of the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons and MLS’s Atlanta United FC. The stadium covers 2 million square feet and can accommodate up to 75,000 spectators for football games and more for other events like concerts and basketball games. Notable for its innovative design, the stadium features a retractable roof that opens like a camera aperture and a 360-degree HD halo video board, the largest of its kind. The stadium’s central plant, essential for climate control, has a cooling capacity of around 9,500 tons, ensuring optimal conditions within the expansive space. Mercedes-Benz Stadium is also renowned for its sustainability efforts, being the first professional sports stadium to achieve LEED Platinum certification, with numerous eco-friendly systems integrated into its operations.
Timberlake & Dickson Scope:
Timberlake & Dickson furnished a total of six (6) crossflow cooling towers for the nearly 6,000-ton central plant, as well as over one hundred Yaskawa variable frequency drives from Yaskawa to serve the facility’s motor driven HVAC equipment.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium has an advanced water management system that includes a 680,000-gallon cistern to capture and reuse rainwater. This system helps reduce water consumption and supports the stadium’s sustainable landscaping and cooling systems.
