Timberlake & Dickson Equipment Company has a rich history rooted in innovation, dedication, and a commitment to excellence. The company was originally founded in 1965 as a partnership between Bob Timberlake and Bill Wofford, two visionary entrepreneurs who shared a passion for providing high-quality heating and cooling solutions. From its inception, the company quickly established itself as a reliable provider of advanced evaporative cooling equipment, catering to the growing demands of a variety of industry sectors.
For over three decades, Timberlake & Wofford thrived under the leadership of its founders, building a reputation for responsive service and a deep understanding of customer challenges. The company became a trusted name in the industry, known for its flexibility in offering a variety of creative solutions to meet the unique needs of its clients.
In 1997, a significant change occurred as Bill Wofford retired, passing the torch to Preston Dickson, who became a partner in the business. To reflect this new chapter, the company was renamed Timberlake & Dickson. Preston Dickson brought a fresh perspective and new energy to the company, helping it to further expand its product offerings and solidify its position as a leader in the HVAC industry.
By 2001, ownership of the business transferred solely to Preston Dickson, who continued to build on the legacy established by the founders. Under his leadership, Timberlake & Dickson grew significantly, becoming known for its exceptional product range, including cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, variable frequency drives, fan coil units, and water source heat pumps. The company’s focus on serving diverse commercial sectors—such as commercial office buildings, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, data centers, manufacturing facilities, municipal facilities, and hotels—became even more pronounced.
In 2019, a new era of significant growth began as ownership of Timberlake & Dickson was transferred to a partnership of dedicated employees: Scotty MacLaughlin, Dave Elliott, Kurt Kube, and John Wofford. This group of seasoned professionals brought together a wealth of experience in sales, engineering consulting, owner representation, and mechanical contracting. Their collective expertise provided a strong foundation for the company’s accelerated expansion.
Under this dynamic new leadership, Timberlake & Dickson significantly expanded its product offerings to include chillers, boilers, and air handling units, among other notable additions to the company’s portfolio. This era also saw the addition of numerous new team members and added expertise in areas including manufacturing, business management, and logistics, thus enhancing the company’s capabilities and service reach.
A major milestone in this period of growth was the geographical expansion with the opening of a new office in Austin in 2022. This strategic move enabled Timberlake & Dickson to better serve customers in central and south Texas, further solidifying their presence in the region.
